Description
The Leica III f produced from 1950 to 1957 is a further development of the Leica III c with the possibility of using a flash unit with the camera.
The III f was made, except for a small production lot for the Swedish Army, exclusively in silver chrome finish. There are three variants where the differences are relatively small.
The camera, which was mainly built in Wetzlar, was also produced in small numbers at the Leitz plant in Midland, Ontario. Prefabricated parts were sent to Canada for final assembly.
For this reason, Leica models from Canadian production are rarely found with top cap engraving pointing to the production site.
Leica III f with the cap engraving Midland, Canada are with R9 in the almost possible rarity rating and almost unique on the used market.
Offered is a Leica III f with red dial from Canadian production (built in 1952). The camera is in very good condition.
The absolute peculiarity of this camera is that it would have to be a III f with black dial. The serial number of this camera belongs in the last production lot of the Leica III f with black dial (No. 610001 – 611000) and is noted as officially produced in Midland lot!
