Description
The Elmar 4,0/90mm lens was one of the first interchangeable lenses for the Leica camera and the production started in 1931.
During the lifespan of this lens there have been several different versions and one of the rarest is offered here.
The often called “lightweight-Elmar” 4,0/90mm withan optical design consisting of only three elements has been produced from 1964-1968 with Leica screw-mount and M-mount.
What is so special about this lens with screw-mount is, that the “lightweight-Elmar” was produced after the production of Leica screw-mount cameras has ceased. Also this lens was produced in production runs with the M-mount sibling of this lens design. This explains the exceptional low production of only 543 units.
The Elmar 4,0/90mm offered here is in close to mint condition either cosmetical and technical and belongs to the earliest produced lenses of this type!
Total production: only 543 units!
