Description
The third version of the Elmarit 28mm was built from 1979 to 1991 by Leica. It is one of the lenses that were recalculated shortly before the release of the Leica M4-P. Here, the desire of professional photographers for a slightly higher contrast and lightweight lens versions were taken into account. For many users, the lenses that were available for the M4-P are still excellent and are thus in high favor with professional photographers and amateurs.
A special feature of the first series of the Elmarit 28mm is the “waist” of the lens barrel. In this form, a maximum of 2,050 pieces of the approximately 15,000 lenses produced had been built!
The regular series version has a nearly cylindrical lens barrel but otherwise has identical specification.
An interim version was build with cylindrical lens barrel but still has the early “tiger claw” focus lever.
Of this type only approx. 1.000 lenses were produced!
The offered Elmarit-M 2,8/28mm is in very good condition and will be delivered including lens hood.
The lens shows age related haze on the elements and we have not cleaned it to preserve the unchanged original condition of this early (from the third batch) type.
Total production: at most 2.050 units
