LEITZ Summarit-M39 1,5/5cm

No.:
953743

The Summarit 1.5/5cm was available from Leitz from 1949. As a further development of the Xenon 5cm lens, it brought with it an increased imaging performance and was primarily used for availabe-light photography and reportage use, with the improved imaging performance at full aperture being highly welcome in both shooting areas.

During the production period from 1949 to 1960, the lens was subject to various minor modifications, which, however, only affected the frame of the lens. The optical structure remained unchanged. In parallel to the version with screw thread, the Summarit was also built with an M bayonet.
Even from today's point of view, the imaging performance of a well-preserved Summarit 1.5/5cm is remarkable and the finely nuanced color rendering of this lens has a very special appeal.

The offered Summarit 1.5/5cm comes from 1956. It is one of the versions with filter thread for screw-in filter E41.
The technical and cosmetic condition is very good. Exceptions to this are the glasses, which despite a professional cleaning still have a wafer-thin residue of coating in the edge area.
In addition, meter operation was also washed out, greased and the focus adjusted.

The overall impression of the lens is so good, however, that the optical limitation does not justify a lower classification.
