Angénieux-Zoom 2,8/45-90mm Type-Universal
The Angénieux Zoom 2.8/45-90mm was the first available zoom lens in the Leica SLR system! The lens was available from 1969 for the Leicaflex SL and was supplied by Leitz/Leica only on special order. Also, the version for the 1976 newly introduced Leica R3 was also not available in the regular Leitz/Leica program.
The lens is based on a cine optics and is accordingly elaborately constructed and manufactured. The technical data of the optical calculation alone are impressive: 15 elements in 12 groups!
The focal length range is perfectly suitable for portrait photography and the high aperture value of 1:2.8 allows the creative use of depth-of-field. The image performance is excellent even by today's standards and the look is more like a cine lens than a lens for 35mm still cameras.
The Angénieux Zoom is the only lens in the Leica range that can not be upgraded from the Leicaflex version to the Leica R version. It was manufactured by P. Angéniux exclusively for Leitz/Leica.
The lens was available from 1969 to 1982 and in total, according to the company P. Angénieux, only about 1,000 to 2,000 pieces were produced!
The offered Angénieux-Zoom is in very good condition and comes incl. lens hood!
Total production: only approx. 1.000 up to 2.000 units
